Life moves in chapters. Families grow, children become seniors, relationships deepen, and sometimes an ordinary afternoon turns into a memory before you realize it.
I photograph the people you love in places that feel like you, with enough direction to feel comfortable and enough space for the real moments to happen.
From family life and senior year to proposals, anniversaries, and the occasional intimate elopement, the goal is always the same: photographs that bring you back to who you were together.
I graduated from high school in Chandler, Arizona, and joined the military soon after as a medic. While stationed in Germany, I traveled throughout Europe with a camera close by, and my love for photography only continued to grow.
When I left the military in 2014, I was expecting my son and beginning a new chapter. I started building my photography business, eventually focusing on weddings before shifting back toward portraits in 2019 so I could spend more weekends with him.
Now that baby is almost twelve. Watching him grow has made me even more aware of how quickly life changes, and why the ordinary versions of the people we love are worth documenting before they become memories.
I have always loved going somewhere new, wandering without a strict plan, and noticing the details that give a place its personality.
The faded sign above a shop. The light moving across a trail. Coffee cups left on a table. The way people interact when they forget anyone is paying attention.
I bring that same travel and street-photography mindset into portrait sessions. I am looking beyond the expected photographs to notice the setting, movement, atmosphere, and small details happening around you.
That might mean the dust on your hiking shoes, your child reaching for your hand, the table where you always order the same thing, or the look between two people moments before a proposal.
Those details may seem small while they are happening, but they are often what makes a photograph feel like your life rather than simply a picture of what you looked like.
It’s nice to (virtually) meet you,
much love, Mel!

From the moment we messaged her for an idea about her packages she was so friendly and responsive, she was the easiest of all of our vendors to communicate with and plan. She was so much more than a photographer and gave me great advice when I needed help with other aspects of planning and timeframes!
“Melissa was so thoughtful and just down right incredible to work with!!”

If you’re not sure about hiring her or not this is your sign to pull the trigger! Not only is she extremely professional and makes something you might think looks silly into STRAIGHT ART, but she also is the sweetest and funnest vendor we had!
"Melissa is the best hands down."

A little fun fact, I wrote in my journal back in 2010 that maybe I would work as a therapist and have horses, as well as nutrition... well that dream finally started to come true in 2026.

I love being part of a wine club, learning about new wines, and enjoying food pairings to go with them. Coming from the girl that was all about local breweries and bourbon, it's been a season of change for me in my 30s!
